Over 140 years ago, in 1862, a House of Commons Committee unanimously
recommended adoption of metric units for public administration. In the days
of the British Empire, it was known that Imperial units were always Made In
Britain.
Since 1965 the UK has been using metric weights and measures in response
to the adoption of metric units as the international system of measurement.
You will find that a lot of stores still have the weight in Lbs and Ounces,
but they were threatened, so a compromise was made, they can display both.
In 31 December 1999 for all lose goods to be sold in metric measurements.
