Battery Hens

You can make a difference, you can help those chickens, hens have a strong instinct to perform their natural behaviours and are intelligent. In 2012 the battery cage is due to be banned, but it might not happen, you need to do something about it. Ask at the restaurant or supermarket, or if you buy any product that contains eggs.

Blame the farmer ! (Nobody forces him to do that job) Blame the consumer demand !

A hen enters a cage at around 20 weeks old and will remain in the cage for 52 weeks before slaughter. Some farmers are switching to "Barn Hens" although not as good as free range, the barn hen is much better off. Barn hens have freedom of movement, they can stretch, flap and nest.

So the next time you buy eggs, make sure they are free range (Best) or Barn eggs.
