Machines

Machines are here to stay, hate them when they go wrong, love them when they do the job, take them for granted everyday. Most people wont know how a machine works, probably don't want to know, and that is bad when its time to get one repaired. As an electrical engineer I must have fixed thousands of machines, and have to say there was not much wrong with them.

When you buy a machine, they sometimes ask if you wish to extend the guarantee, knowing full well that if it goes wrong you wont be able to repair it yourself, and would be frightened by a large repair bill. If truth be known, most repairs are very simple, and some don't even need new parts, its just a matter of knowing how things work, and following a logical procedure.

For example, you wouldn't be looking at the washing machines switches if your kitchen floor is flooded :)

Its not possible to list everything that may go wrong with machines, but I will list a few things that may go wrong, knowing what's wrong, may help get a reduced repair price, rather than be blinded with science and be charged for something you don't need.

I have to say, that if you try anything on this site, and kill yourself, don't blame me, these pages are for educational use only, perhaps a means of getting a better price if you know roughly what's wrong. You should never mess around with electrical appliances they may not hurt you, but the electrical current feeding them will.
