Here is another useful machine, the cloths washing machine, or laundry
machine. These machines are on the go all the time, so they may go wrong
more often.
On average I get a good 4/5 years of trouble free use out of a machine, but
older or cheaper machines have higher maintenance.
One
of the things I never do, is use the machines compartment to add the powder,
you can put the powder inside the machine instead, some powder manufacturers
even supply a small ball to hold the powder.
If you can avoid using the draw for the powder it will stay clean in
there, and chunks of un dissolved powder wont drop and clog up the machine.
You should used cleaning tablets regular to keep the heating elements clear
of lime build up, but one of the most common faults is a build up of
powder in the small vacuum tube. A lot of machines have a vacuum switch,
as the water enters the machine it slowly pushes air up a small tube, when
its at the right level the vacuum switch will switch off the water. If that
small tube gets blocked, the machine wont fill correctly, and can stop
the machine from spinning, as it will think there is still water inside.
Common problems, Door safety switch, Vacuum switch tube block, Motor
brushes and leaky door seals, never the drum or motor.
