For many years now we wasted water, now the water is sold to us with
profit for its shareholders, they want us to pay more, so its sound advice
to try and save water, and at the same time save money. It might not halt
the ever increasing charges, but for now you could save money by using less
water.
Channel rainwater from the down pipe to a water butt, you can then use
this water in your garden, or even have it piped into the house for flushing
the toilets. The item shown will divert the water automatically from the
water butt when full.

Try to make another use for the water, like pumping
it out of a washing machine to a plastic container, where it could be
used for cleaning later. Make sure your home doesn't have any leaks,
check the meter after an hour, see if its moved. Always put the plug in
first before you turn on the tap.
