Said to be one of the oldest spices in the world, Cinnamon offers a number of beneficial effects for the body (including antioxidant, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties).

Primarily Cinnamon can help in reducing and maintaining a healthy blood sugar level. Symptoms of increased blood sugar levels are fatigue, blurred vision and weight loss to name a few.

The body can naturally lose sensitivity to insulin - insulin helps transport sugar (glucose) into the body's cells to be used as energy.

This loss of sensitivity and intake of insulin can lead to high blood sugar levels.

A compound found in Cinnamon, methylhydroxychalcone polymer (MCHP), is believed to mimic the properties of insulin which can help to activate insulin receptors and increase insulin intake, thus lowering blood sugar levels.
